The Heart and Healing Behind My Practice
I grew up in the Iowa City area and have over fifteen years of experience in healthcare as a nurse. Throughout my nursing career, I have always been an advocate for my patients.
Like many people, the pandemic became a turning point in my life. As an only child, mother, nurse, and wife, I spent years doing everything for others. I felt exhausted, overweight, mentally numb, and on autopilot. When life slowed down, I finally had space to reflect and make changes.
I began to clean up my diet and focus on whole foods. I added mindfulness practices like meditation, journaling, and gratitude. I researched holistic approaches to wellness, including nutrition, supplements, and ways to reduce stress. Over time, I noticed real changes: my daily heartburn went away, my energy improved, and I felt more present in my own life.
I’ve also faced my own health challenges since childhood, which pushed me to become my own advocate. I know how painful it can feel when a provider doesn’t listen, rushes through an appointment, or dismisses your concerns. Those experiences shaped my commitment to creating a different kind of space for my patients—one where you feel heard, respected, and never judged.
When we first meet, I take a holistic approach to your intake. I am board-certified as a holistic nurse and nurse coach by the American Holistic Nurses Association. I believe in partnering with you, honoring your autonomy, and meeting you exactly where you are in your mental health journey.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in Iowa, I provide psychotropic medication management and psychotherapy. I work with people across the lifespan—from children to adults. When working with children, I listen to both the child and the parents, and I collaborate with the family to explore realistic changes in daily life that can support the child’s well-being.
I also understand the unique stressors of healthcare and other high-demand fields. With extensive experience in the hospital setting, I relate deeply to those facing burnout, compassion fatigue, and chronic stress. My practice is grounded in compassionate, patient-centered mental healthcare.
The name “Rose Quartz” reflects my values. Rose quartz is known as a stone of compassion, and I chose it because it represents the kind of care I strive to offer—gentle, warm, and heart-centered. And yes, I also simply love the color pink.
Heart-Centered Advocacy
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that true healing begins when a person is deeply heard and advocacy becomes a partnership. By integrating my background as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with certifications in holistic nursing and nurse coaching, I approach mental well-being from a heart-centered perspective. I believe in a holistic integration of mind, body, and spirit—where listening is a form of medicine, and your journey is honored with deep compassion, professional grounding, and restorative advocacy.
